Meet the 'WOWs' - West Oz Welcomers
Since September ‘03, the West Oz Welcomers, known as WOWs, have been welcoming visitors to Perth.
Whether it’s pointing newly-arrived visitors towards a taxi or shuttle bus, helping them find accommodation, or giving them tips on things to see and do in Perth, the WOWs give up their spare time to make visitors to Western Australia’s Capital City feel welcome.
The WOW program is quite unique, being one of only two such programs in the world. The only other city that does it is Paris. The WOW program is proudly sponsored by the Perth Airport, as it’s people like the WOWs that give Western Australians aka (Sandgropers) such a positive image.
The West Oz Welcomers (WOWS) volunteer to meet and greet visitors arriving at the domestic and international airports, the East Perth Rail Terminal, Fremantle Passenger Terminal and at various events, to assist them with general tourist information and directions.
